As fashions in today’s world have dumbed down, there’s nothing that will excuse the professional woman from being fashionable, and it doesn’t have to cost that proverbial arm or leg. If you follow fashion trends and try to dress accordingly, you may want to set your own trends and stay away from the fashion runways. Some claim that the economy is where the trends follow. For instance, when the economy is poor, short skirts get shorter; and when the economy is good skirts are longer.

You’ll find formal shirts, skirts and trousers beneficial and you can either dress them up or down depending on the circumstances. For instance, you might wear formal items to work during the day and add a bright scarf or other jewelry to dress them up for eveningwear.
In almost every article regarding fashion you read that a little black dress is an added benefit to your wardrobe. Whether little or black will fill the bill, whenever you’ll be meeting with family and business acquaintances outside of work, you shouldn’t wear anything risqué. Your skirt hems should fall to the knee, and avoid wearing clothing unacceptable at work. Those shorts are great for the beach, but frowned on in an office setting.
Find the fashions that will benefit your figure and are the most comfortable, especially if you’ll be wearing the outfit all day and into the evening. There are advantages in choosing standard colors, like black, gray, blue, brown, or beige in that you can mix and match using brighter colors.
Stick with fashions that are wrinkle-free fabrics, in lightweight wool or blends of cotton. If your torso is short and you want to conceal a bulky mid section, you should pick a suit jacket that is longer in length.
